About the UHD Alliance
The UHDA is an organization dedicated to fostering the UHD ecosystem and promoting the benefits of UHD entertainment technology. The group announced the quality criteria for HDR, across displays, content and distribution methods. These specifications were developed through the collaborative efforts of leading film studios, consumer electronics manufacturers, content distributors and technology companies, with significant input from consumer surveys.

Samsung Electronics announced today that its UBD-K8500 Ultra HD Blu-ray player has been certified as 'UHD Premium' by the UHD Alliance (UHDA). Now a part of Samsung's total UHD ecosystem, the UBD-K8500 joins the 2016 Samsung SUHD TV lineup in UHDA Premium Certifications.

Samsung's recently released HDR-compatible UBD-K8500 Ultra HD Blu-ray player offers four times the resolution and 64 times higher color expression than conventional Blu-ray players. When paired with Samsung SUHD TV's Quantum Dot Display, the UBD-K8500 delivers a level of picture quality never before seen in the home. Its built-in upscaling technology enhances the picture quality from standard Blu-ray discs and DVDs.

The UBD-K8500 was tested to see if it could precisely read all of the information on a Blu-ray disc, which also bears the UHDA Premium logo, and reproduce what exactly is needed to meet true premium UHD picture quality. Moving forward, ULTRA HD PREMIUM logo from the UHDA will be included on all Samsung Ultra Blu-ray players to help consumers easily identify premium technologies and choose products with confidence.

"We are thrilled that the Samsung UBD-K8500 Ultra HD Blu-ray player has received the Premium Certification from the UHDA, and even more thrilled to offer our consumers a complete premium UHD home entertainment experience through the Samsung Ultra HD Blu-ray player and the 2016 SUHD TV lineup" said John JY KIM, Vice President of AV Product Marketing Group at Samsung. "Thanks to the industry's continued focus on growing the UHD ecosystem to the fullest, consumers can expect more premium options with the best picture quality available – all at the comfort of their homes."

As a trusted authority in UHD picture quality, the UHDA Premium Certification is designed to help consumers identify televisions, content and now playback devices that are capable of delivering a premium viewing experience at home. The certification is reserved for products, content and services that align with the rigorous performance metrics set by the UHDA for resolution, high dynamic range, peak luminance, black levels and wide color gamut.

The UHDA's Premium Certification was adopted to TV products and UHD contents, but has now expanded to include Ultra HD Blu-ray players. Inclusion in this prestigious certification marks a meaningful step forward for Ultra HD Blu-ray players as it insures exacting video specifications are met to insure the players video output signal maintains artistic intent.

Samsung Electronics today announced that Samsung KNOX 2.6, Samsung's built in defense grade security that is ready for work right out of the box, received the most "Strong" ratings of any mobile security platform in the report "Mobile Device Security: A Comparison of Platforms" from Gartner, Inc.. The report, published on April 6, 2016 compared the core OS security features built into twelve mobile device platforms as well as enterprise management capabilities.

Gartner notes, "Security professionals must make informed decisions about deploying management software or mobile security apps, or whether they can rely on the various devices' security controls.  This assessment focuses on the security requirements that apply to mobile devices and compares the most popular mobile device platforms with respect to these requirements."

"Samsung prides itself on providing end-to-end solutions that are secured at the core" said Injong Rhee, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D, Software and Services, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics.  "In today's mobile-first environment, data privacy and protection are the integral components of all mobile applications and services, and KNOX is a ready-made hardware-vaulted security platform on which many mobile applications can be built with strong security and privacy protections on Samsung smartphone hardware.  We're proud that Gartner has evaluated KNOX with the 'Strong' ratings in many aspects of security features."

Gartner gave Samsung KNOX the most "strong" ratings of any platform for Corporate Managed Security.  Samsung KNOX is also the only platform with "strong" ratings for every security control listed in the Corporate Managed Security category according to the report. We believe this highlights Samsung's industry leading position in categories such as Authentication Methods, Encryption Management, Jailbreak/Root Protection and App Vetting.

Samsung KNOX provides enterprise-ready devices with built in defense grade security, right out of the box. Anchored in the device's hardware, Samsung KNOX protects the device from the moment it boots up all the way through launching an app. KNOX 2.6 is the latest version of Samsung's mobile security platform, available on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge devices. The KNOX 2.6 security platform is also optimized for Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which contains a number of features that enhance security and user productivity.

Samsung Electronics Awarded 2016 Creative Marketer of the Year by Cannes LIONS

Cannes Lions_706

Hey I wanted to share some exciting news from Samsung.

Samsung Electronics was recognized as the most creative marketer of 2016 by the Cannes LIONS International Festival of Creativity, the largest gathering of worldwide creative communications professionals and advertisers. The "Creative Marketer of the Year" award is awarded to companies that have made creative and meaningful strides in marketing.

Terry Savage, Chairman, Lions Festivals, said, "When you look at Samsung's wins at Cannes Lions, even just last year, what strikes you is the diversity of Lions that they are taking home through their overarching commitment to creativity. They're excelling across the board, including in areas such as healthcare communications, craft and branded content, as well as picking up a Titanium Lion."

Samsung has steadily refined its marketing approach to a more consumer-centric strategy, which focuses on how its products and technologies can create meaning in the lives of consumers. For example, Samsung' campaigns in 2015 include 'Look at Me' for autistic children, 'Safety Truck' for road safety, 'Every Day is Day One' for athletes, and 'Center Stage' for an enhanced consumer retail experience. To earn these prestigious honours, Samsung collaborated with world-class creative agencies including Cheil Worldwide, Leo Burnett and 72&Sunny.

"We believe that our innovations open opportunities for people to reach higher and dream bigger," said Moonsoo Kim, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing Center at Samsung Electronics. "At Samsung, enriching people's lives is at the center of everything we do, and our marketing reflects this philosophy."

The 63rd International Festival of Creativity is where the world's companies come together to challenge their creativity in advertising, publicity and marketing campaigns in many different categories. Hosted annually in Cannes, France, this year's events will be held from June 18 to 25, 2016, and will be attended by more than 15,000 delegates from over 95 countries.
